Athena Enterprises USA, Inc. is owned and operated by Tania Pendarakis, recognized as a Subject Matter Expert in multiple criminal justice disciplines. Major Pendarakis (Ret.) has served the law enforcement profession for more than 30 years and is certified as a general, specialized and high liability instructor by the Florida Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission. Major Pendarakis also holds teaching certificates from the National Institute of Ethics and serves as an adjunct instructor for the Criminal Justice Executive Institute, the Florida Leadership Academy (Florida Department of Law Enforcement), Tallahassee Community College and for St. Petersburg College.
Major Pendarakis has taught thousands of local, state, federal and military law enforcement officers the art of reading body language, interpreting verbal and non-verbal cues and perceiving deception by studying a person's facial expressions and eye movement. Techniques for interviewing and interrogating subjects, suspects, victims and witnesses are integrated with the study of body language to help officers develop skill at detecting deception. This skill set results in more confessions, higher conviction rates, better employee screening and increased officer safety.
Pendarakis served in uniform patrol for five years and as an undercover officer for eight. She worked for a plain clothes state investigative agency for 22.5 years and was promoted up each rung of the chain of command from detective to Interim Chief of Law Enforcement. Pendarakis was the State Emergency Response Team Commander for her agency and has extensive experience in multijurisdictional law enforcement and emergency response to critical incidents.
Although retired from active duty (July '2007), Pendarakis continues to serve the law enforcement profession. In addition to teaching criminal justice classes, she sits on the Executive Board of the State Law Enforcement Chiefs' Association and provides free website and technical support for several non-profit organizations including Cops for Kids Tallahassee. Pendarakis is the founder of numerous small businesses that have served or continue to serve the law enforcement community, including Athena Leather Designs, Athena Police Supply and Ares EOD Supply.
